Journalism student receives Wisconsin Broadcasters Association scholarshipFebruary 20, 2014
EAU CLAIRE — Ginna Roe, a University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire senior, recently received a scholarship from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Foundation.
The journalism major from Hudson was one of four recipients of the $1,000 Results Broadcasting Scholarship.
Students enrolled in broadcasting-related educational programs at institutions of higher education in Wisconsin are eligible to apply. Applicants also are required to have completed at least half of their degree or graduation requirements and compose an essay predicting what the world of broadcasting might look like in five years.
For Roe, her accomplishments and application stood out to the educators who reviewed them as especially impressive and worthy of award. The senior expressed both excitement and gratitude upon receiving the news.
"I am thrilled to receive this award," Roe said. "It is truly an honor to be recognized by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association."
While the scholarship is a milestone in her broadcasting career, Roe has her sights set on life beyond graduation.
"After graduation this May I plan to pursue a career in broadcast reporting," Roe said. "Someday I hope to combine my love for travel and journalism with a career in international reporting."
As a part of the honor, Roe is invited to attend the WBA Student Awards Luncheon March 1 in Madison.
