EAU CLAIRE — The Lookout, a new event space and dance club in Hilltop Center on the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's upper campus, will celebrate its grand opening Jan. 24-25 with dance parties from 11 p.m.-2 a.m. both evenings. Saturday's event will include a performance by singing comedian Brian O'Sullivan at 9:45 p.m. Admission is free to students with a university ID.

Armed with an acoustic guitar and unwavering comedic wit, O'Sullivan combines comedy with popular music, mixing in improv and audience participation. He was born in northern California, quickly transferred to southern California, was educated in North Carolina, trained in Chicago and currently resides in Santa Monica in the outskirts of Los Angeles.

Performing professionally since he was 19, O'Sullivan has headlined and performed in more than 800 shows nationwide at such venues as The Laugh Factory, The Comedy Store, Second City (Chicago), and at more than 100 colleges. He holds a BFA in acting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Located on the lower level of the present Bowling and Billiard Center, The Lookout includes a stage, a moveable DJ booth and lighting trusses, and is disability accessible.

The previous student-run nightclub on upper campus, Higherground, closed its doors in May. Like its predecessor, The Lookout is managed by the Activities, Involvement and Leadership office of the University Centers.
