EAU CLAIRE — David J. Miller has been appointed director of human resources at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Miller, who has held a variety of human resources positions in Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming and Washington, began his UW-Eau Claire position Sept. 16. Most recently, he served as the director of human resources at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho, from 2000 to 2013.

"I’m very pleased that David has joined UW-Eau Claire in the role of human resources director," said David Gessner, UW-Eau Claire vice chancellor for administration and finance. "Nurturing human resources is a priority of the university. David's wealth of human resources experiences, can-do personality and professionalism make him the ideal person to lead this critical area."

Before his position at Idaho State University, Miller was human resources manager at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyo., from 1995-97 and assistant director of human resources at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Wash., from 1997-2000. He also previously held human resources positions in the private sector with The Principal Financial Group and Gateway Inc., and he began his career as a personnel assistant at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D.

"I'm very excited to join the UW-Eau Claire community," Miller said. "I have been, and continue to be, very impressed by the welcoming and friendly people I have had the privilege to meet so far at UW-Eau Claire and in the Chippewa Valley. I look forward to working with everyone at the university."

Miller received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of South Dakota and did postgraduate work in business administration and public administration at the University of South Dakota and the University of Wyoming.
