Central campus walkway, Schofield Hall entrances to reopen by Aug. 30August 26, 2013
EAU CLAIRE — While redevelopment of the Central Campus Mall on the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus will continue through the fall semester, the east entrances to Schofield Hall and a new north-south sidewalk immediately adjacent to those entrances will open no later than Friday, Aug. 30, said Terry Classen, UW-Eau Claire director of facilities management.
The reconstruction of the Schofield Hall east stairs and sidewalk are a part of the comprehensive redevelopment of the Central Campus Mall in association with construction of the new $44.5 million Centennial Hall (the official name chosen for what was formerly referred to as the Education Building).
Features of the restored Central Campus Mall will include:
- A central "hub" gathering space. See an overhead view of the plan.
- Moving the "Sprites" sculpture from its current location just northeast of Schofield Hall to the "hub" of the mall. See the artist's rendering of the new "Sprites" sculpture location.
- 47 new trees. See the tree-planting layout.
