SUBJECT: International cyclist to bring 'Share the Knowledge' tour to campus
                 Aug. 5

PeerMax
Cyclist Max Peer travels with 440 pounds of gear on the international "Share the Knowledge" tour to spread information about free educational resources to improve technology design and help create a more sustainable world.

Members of the media and the general public are welcome to cover a visit by international cyclist Max Peer at 2 p.m. Aug. 5 on the UW-Eau Claire Davies Center Plaza as part of the "Share the Knowledge" tour to spread information about free educational resources to improve technology design and help create a more sustainable world. At 2:30 p.m. Peer will share his story in the Woodland Theater of Davies Center.

Peer's 35,000-mile, four-year global bike-canoe tour began in mid-May in Orlando, Fla., and includes major metropolitan communities in Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. His Tout Terrain Panamericana touring bike, complete with a single-wheel trailer, is equipped with everything he needs for his global adventure. His equipment includes a tent; a stove, powered by fuel or gas depending on the location; water treatment supplies; GPS and traditional maps; a solar power panel and dynamo hub in the front wheel to power his computer, camera and other devices; and one canoe made of tarpaulin and assembled with extensible tubing that is capable of holding two people, two bikes and all of Peer's equipment. In addition, he will test PhotoTribe, a new SAP photo-sharing app for iPhone.

The "Share the Knowledge" tour is sponsored by SAP, SAP University Alliances and the Interaction Design Foundation (IDF).

UW-Eau Claire is one of a handful of universities in Wisconsin to offer students hands-on experiences with SAP software. SAP is the global market leader in enterprise application software. Local companies like Leinenkugel's and Nestlé use it, for example.

See an online news release for additional information about Peer and the "Share the Knowledge" tour stop at UW-Eau Claire.
