Continuing Education to offer summer workshops for music teachersMay 14, 2013
EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will offer three summer workshops for music teachers. All are designed for middle and high school band directors and will be held in the Haas Fine Arts Center at UW-Eau Claire.
Details about the workshops are as follows:
- Creative Jazz Workshop: Ideas and Practice in Jazz Education will be held from 8:30-4:30 p.m. June 17-18. Robert Baca, director of jazz studies at UW-Eau Claire, will be the instructor. The program may be taken for non-credit or one graduate credit.
- Perfecting Percussion: Better Your Section and Yourself! will be held from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. June 19-20. Dr. Jeffery Crowell, associate professor of music and coordinator of the wind and percussion division at UW-Eau Claire, will be the instructor. The program may be taken for non-credit or one graduate credit.
- Power Up Your Beginning Band Students will be held from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Aug. 6-7. William Simon, an experienced middle school band teacher and owner of Power of the Winds Publications LLC, will be the instructor. The program may be taken for non-credit or one undergraduate credit.
