Continuing Education to offer behavioral health program in SeptemberMay 9, 2013
EAU CLAIRE--University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will offer a program titled Behavioral Health for the Paraprofessional from 8:45 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at The Florian Gardens in Eau Claire.
The program is designed for front-line staff in health care settings, medical assistants, appointment coordinators, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, billing department and business office staff, and others who deal with individuals with behavioral health problems.
Program topics will include identifying signs, symptoms and common behaviors of various psychiatric disorders; how to respond effectively; and county resources for individuals with psychiatric disorders.
Program instructors from Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire are Dr. William Weggel, psychiatrist; Karlene Phillips, registered nurse and director of Inpatient Behavioral Health; Angela Theisen, psychotherapist; Barbara Forrest, behavioral health liaison; and Cory Carlson, nursing supervisor in Inpatient Behavioral Health. Jen Moe, a crisis coordinator for Eau Claire County, also will present.
The fee to attend is $69 per person with a group rate of $59 for three or more registering together. Program materials and lunch are included.
