SUBJECT: Students to be available May 2 to discuss research, creative projects
Reporters and photographers are welcome to talk with University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students about their research and other scholarly and creative projects during the 2013 Celebration of Excellence in Research and Creative Activity (CERCA) May 1 and 2 in the W.R. Davies Student Center.
CERCA will run from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. both days. While members of the media are welcome to cover the event anytime, a designated "media time" has been scheduled beginning at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 2.
- During the May 2 media time, most students participating in the event will be stationed at their posters in the Ojibwe Ballroom, Mohican Room and the adjacent hallway on the third floor of Davies Center. Students will be available to talk to the media about their research and how they feel the experience has enhanced their undergraduate experience.
- Also scheduled from 3-3:30 p.m. is a student/faculty collaborative lecture/performance of music transcribed for bassoon duo by Alex Widstrand, a senior applied instrumental music major from Eau Claire, and his faculty mentor, Dr. Jacqueline Wilson. Media are welcome to photograph the performance (videotaping must be done within fair use parameters due to copyright restrictions), and Widstrand will be available following the performance to talk with reporters.
- A reception at 4 p.m. will include a keynote talk by UW-Eau Claire alumna and current Eau Claire City Council member Catherine Emmanuelle.
Questions regarding media coverage of CERCA may be directed to Dr. Karen Havholm, director of UW-Eau Claire's Center of Excellence for Faculty and Undergraduate Student Research Collaboration, at email@example.com or 715- 836-3405.
