Finalists Huot, Benoit withdraw from chancellor search

March 12, 2013

EAU CLAIRE — Dr. Anne Huot and Dr. Pam Benoit have withdrawn as finalists for the position of chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Huot is the provost and vice president for academic affairs at The College at Brockport, State University of New York. Benoit is executive vice president and provost at Ohio University. In February, Dr. Kathryn Cruz-Uribe, provost and vice president for academic affairs at California State University, Monterey Bay, withdrew from the search to become president at another institution.

"The UW-Eau Claire chancellorship is an outstanding opportunity for a talented academic leader to join a vibrant university campus," said Edmund Manydeeds, chair of the UW- System Board of Regents special committee for the search. The search process will continue with two finalists, Manydeeds said.

Dr. Kent Neely, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Western Oregon University, and Dr. James C. Schmidt, vice president for university advancement at Winona State University and executive director of the WSU Foundation board of trustees, will be interviewed March 13 by UW System President Kevin Reilly and the special regents committee. Reilly and the committee will recommend one candidate to the full Board of Regents, which must approve the appointment.

The person selected through this process will succeed former UW-Eau Claire Chancellor Brian Levin-Stankevich, who stepped down last spring to accept a new job as president of Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. UW-Madison's Dr. Gilles Bousquet has served as UW-Eau Claire's interim chancellor since July.
