Forensics team finishes well in February competitions

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team placed well in a number of late-February tournaments.

The team placed third in the Mid-America Forensics League Tournament No. 7 Feb. 23 at UW-Oshkosh and fourth at MAFL No. 8 Feb. 24 at Ripon College. The team also earned the first-place team sweepstakes trophy at the Twin Cities Forensics League Tournament No. 6 Feb. 26 at Normandale Community College.

Individual results for Feb. 23 are as follows:

Freshman Sarah Doege, Saint Charles, Ill., placed fourth in extemporaneous speaking.

Freshman Ben Thompson Isaac, Chaska, Minn., placed fourth in persuasion.

Senior Abby Rand, Melrose, placed third in persuasion.

Sophomore Kyra Witcher, Apple Valley, Minn., placed fifth in poetry and seventh in communication analysis.

Senior Megan Chilman, Le Sueur, Minn., placed second in poetry.

Freshman Alex Brown, Saint Michael, Minn., placed fifth in communication analysis.

Junior Jarrel Montgomery, Madison, placed first in communication analysis.

Senior Megan McKeown, Eagan, Minn., and freshman Ben Thompson Isaac, Chaska, Minn., placed fifth in duo interpretation.

Sophomore Jake Stendahl, Forest Lake, Minn., and junior Jarrel Montgomery, Madison, placed third in duo interpretation.

Individual results for Feb. 24 are as follows:

Freshman Sarah Doege, Saint Charles, Ill., placed fourth in extemporaneous speaking.

Freshman Elijah Freeman, Ladysmith, placed second in extemporaneous speaking and fifth in communication analysis.

Freshman Heidi Feyereisen, Roberts, placed sixth in persuasion.

Senior Abby Rand, Melrose, placed first in persuasion.

Junior Stephen Fong, Shorewood, placed third in after-dinner speaking.

Sophomore Jake Stendahl, Forest Lake, Minn., and junior Jarrel Montgomery, Madison, placed fifth in duo interpretation.

Senior Megan McKeown, Eagan, Minn., and freshman Ben Thompson Isaac, Chaska, Minn., placed third in duo interpretation.

Sophomore Caitlyn Duley, Saint Michael, Minn., placed fourth in informative speaking and third in extemporaneous speaking.

Senior Megan Chilman, Le Sueur, Minn., placed first in informative speaking and fourth in dramatic interpretation.

Freshman Sarah Doege, Saint Charles, Ill., placed third in persuasion and second in extemporaneous speaking.

Freshman Ben Thompson Isaac, Chaska, Minn., placed second in persuasion.

Senior Megan McKeown, Eagan, Minn., placed second in poetry.
