Rob Reid to present reading, sign copies of new book March 2February 14, 2013
EAU CLAIRE — Author and storyteller Rob Reid will read from and sign copies of his new book, "Silly Books to Read Aloud," Saturday, March 2, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The University Bookstore will host the event from 10 a.m.-noon in The Cabin of Davies Center. Admission is free.
Reid is a children's humorist who has entertained children and their families for more than 30 years. The author of 15 books, he will read from his latest, "Silly Books to Read Aloud" (2012) — a guide for parents, teachers and librarians looking for good picture books, chapter books, poetry collections and graphic novels to read aloud to preschool through middle school-age children. He also will read from six of the books he showcases: "Jake Drake, Class Clown" by Andrew Clements; "Rescue Bunnies" by Doreen Cronin; "The Pepins and Their Problems" by Polly Horvath; "Bark, George" by Jules Feiffer; "Lunch Lady and the Cyborg Substitute" by Jarrett J. Krosoczka; and "Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich" by Adam Rex. All of the aforementioned titles are for sale at the University Bookstore.
An acclaimed children's book authority, Reid is a senior lecturer in UW-Eau Claire's education studies department, specializing in children's literature, literature for adolescents and storytelling. He is a regular columnist for several magazines and his blog, "Heart of a Child," appears regularly on the Children's Literature Network website. Reid served on the 2006 Newbery Award Committee and he was named as the 2004 Wisconsin Library Association's Librarian of the Year.
