High school students to compete in annual mathematics meet
February 6, 2013EAU CLAIRE —The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire mathematics department will host the 31st annual regional Mathematics Meet for high school students Feb. 16 in Hibbard Hall on UW-Eau Claire's lower campus.
Thirty-six teams representing the following high schools will compete in this year's competition: Aquinas, Black River Falls, Chippewa Falls, Durand, Ellsworth, Lake Holcombe, McDonell, Eau Claire Memorial, Mondovi, Eau Claire North, Owen-Withee, Regis, Stanley-Boyd, Viroqua and West Salem.
The event features separate competitions for small, medium and large schools, with team championships as well as individual honors. All competitors and team sponsors will receive T-shirts and certificates.
UW-Eau Claire scholarships, funded by a grant from Xcel Energy, will be awarded to the top four individual winners in each of the three divisions. An awards ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. in the Ojibwe Grand Ballroom of Davies Center.
In case of inclement weather, the meet will be held March 2.
