EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present a piano recital by guest artist Dr. Phoenix Park-Kim at 5 p.m. Oct. 28 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The program will feature a variety of pieces, including Largo from Concerto for Harpsichord by J.S. Bach; Sonata in C major by Franz Joseph Haydn; and "Embraceable You" and "Love Walked In" by George Gershwin.

"Gershwin's songs 'Embraceable You' and 'Love Walked In' are songs that you may recognize even if you are not a classical music fan," Park-Kim said. "I hope that people get to hear how these well-known pieces can be played on the piano."

Park-Kim earned bachelor's degrees in piano performance and English language and literature from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. She completed her graduate work at Miami University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Park-Kim is an associate professor of piano at Indiana Wesleyan University. She has performed throughout the world and has excelled in national and international competitions. Park-Kim also has been a featured soloist with the Korean Philharmonic Orchestra and the UMKC Chamber Orchestra.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Nichole Akright at 715-836-4954 or
