Forensics team performs well in Illinois competition

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team finished in sixth place at the Dan Smith Invitational Tournament Oct. 6 at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.

Twenty-one teams competed in the tournament, and the UW-Eau Claire forensics team brought home five trophies after the daylong competition.

UW-Eau Claire's individual results were as follows:

Senior Megan McKeown, Eagan, Minn., reached the semifinals in prose interpretation.

Junior Jake Stendahl, Forest Lake, Minn., placed sixth in program oral interpretation.

Senior Abby Rand, West Salem, placed fourth in informative speaking and qualified for the National Forensic Association tournament in that event.

Freshman Ben Thompson Isaac, Chaska, Minn., placed third in novice prose and second in novice dramatic interpretation and qualified for the NFA tournament in both events.

The team will compete in a swing tournament Oct. 20-21 in Mankato, Minn.
