National Hazing Prevention Week recognized on campus

September 26, 2012

NHPW logoEAU CLAIRE — Greek Life recruitment at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire coincides with National Hazing Prevention Week Sept. 24-28.

Campuses and organizations across the country participate in the national initiative to educate students, parents, faculty and staff, community members, local and campus police and others so that they can more easily recognize hazing and intervene when it occurs. Hazing is broadly defined as any activity expected of someone joining or participating in a group, that humiliates, degrades, abuses or endangers them, regardless of a person's willingness to participate.

All fraternities and sororities at UW-Eau Claire have a zero-tolerance hazing policy. All three sororities — Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Zeta and Sigma Sigma Sigma — are employing targeted campus advertising for National Hazing Prevention Week and participating in the Hazing Prevention #40Answers Campaign on Twitter. Follow PreventHazing to join the conversation.

Greek Life is advised by the Activities, Involvement and Leadership office of the University Centers.
