Next free Summer Sounds concert set for July 1

EAU CLAIRE — Two music faculty members, a recent alumna and a current student at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will present a free concert at 2 p.m. July 1 in Phillips Recital Hall of the university's Haas Fine Arts Center.

The performance will feature faculty members Dr. Christa Garvey on oboe and Lori Cruciani on piano, as well as Alexandra Esser, a senior music education and German education double major from Waukesha, on oboe and Sarah Kubiatowicz, a May 2012 applied instrumental music graduate from Eau Claire, on English horn. The concert is part of the Summer Sounds series, which will feature free Sunday performances by UW-Eau Claire faculty, select students and guest artists. All concerts, which run through July 29, will be at 2 p.m. in the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The following are the featured performers and locations for the remaining Summer Sounds concerts:

  • July 8: The Wilson Duo (Dr. Jacqueline Wilson, bassoon, and guest artist Christopher Wilson, marimba), Phillips Recital Hall.
  • July 15: "An Afternoon of Dance" with Julie Fox and friends, Haas Fine Arts Center Room 190. See concert program.
  • July 22: Dr. Owen Lovell, solo piano, Phillips Recital Hall. See concert program.
  • July 29: Paul Kosower (UW-Eau Claire professor emeritus), solo cello, Phillips Recital Hall.
