Jansen has served as interim associate dean since July 2010 and was acting associate dean the previous year. She begins her permanent associate dean position on July 1.
"I am delighted that Dr. Jansen has accepted the position of associate dean," said Dr. Linda Young, dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. "During her time in the interim position, Dr. Jansen has advocated for students and student services, has participated in successful grant writing for the department of nursing and has held a high standard of excellence in her administrative functions. She has maintained strong relationships with alumni, she herself being an alumna of our undergraduate program. Given the multifaceted qualities and leadership skill set she brings to the position, we indeed have a bright future as we move forward."
Among Jansen's duties as associate dean are managing undergraduate and graduate student issues, including recruitment, admissions and advising; participating in the orientation of new faculty and instructional academic staff regarding advising and monitoring advising activities; planning and conducting program-related activities, including alumni events; and securing grant funding to enhance academic opportunities and financial support for students.
Jansen said she is looking forward to better serving and meeting the needs of students in all of the college's programs and will be planning activities to connect with alumni and community members.
Jansen joined the UW-Eau Claire faculty as an assistant professor of adult health nursing in 1997. She attained the rank of professor in 2007. She received her bachelor of science in nursing degree from UW-Eau Claire and her master's and doctoral degrees in nursing from UW-Madison.
