Women's Chorus to present spring concert April 30April 26, 2012
EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Women's Chorus will perform its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. April 30 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The choir, under the direction of Richard Moses, associate lecturer of music, will open with "Star Spangled Banner" by Francis Scott Key.
The first set will include "Zion Hears the Watchmen Singing" by Dietrich Buxtehude, "Gesang aus Fingal from Opus 17" by Johannes Brahms and "Duo Seraphim" by Tomas Luis de Victoria. The second set will include "Dark Brown is the River" by Audry Snyder, "Sakura" by Linda Steen Spevacek and "Lux Aeterna" by Z. Randall Stroope.
The all-female a capella group "Girl's Night Out" will perform during the third set. Songs will include a Black Eyed Peas medley, "Lithium," and "I Don't Want to Know" by Fleetwood Mac.
The final set will include "Prayer of the Children" by Kurt Bestor, "God's Bottles" by Randall Thompson and "Elijah Rock" by Clifton Noble Jr.
The concert will feature student conductor Jennifer Lange, a senior from Eau Claire. Freshman Kayla Shoemaker, Eau Claire, will accompany on piano.
The Women's Chorus consists of 50 women from a variety of UW-Eau Claire academic programs. Members are selected through audition, and the group performs one concert each semester in Gantner Concert Hall, as well as various other performances throughout the year.
Tickets, available online and at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $5 for the general public; $3 for those 62 and older, 17 and younger, and faculty and staff with a university ID; and free for students with a university ID.
