May 1 'Swap-O-Rama' encourages alternatives to consumerismApril 12, 2012
EAU CLAIRE — The Women's and LGBTQ Resource Center and Student Parents Reaching Out will host Swap-O-Rama, a popular annual clothing drive and swap at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
The spring event will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. May 1 in The Cabin of Davies Center.
Starting April 23, items can be brought to the Women's and LGBTQ Resource Center lounge located in Room 34 of Schofield Hall. Items also can be brought the day of the swap.
Everyone is invited to participate, even if they are unable to donate. Leftover items will be donated to various local women's organizations.
Swap-O-Rama provides students, faculty and staff with an alternative to consumerism by offering a place to give, take and trade clothing and other items, rather than purchasing them.
This semester there will be a special emphasis placed on collecting children's items, including clothing and toys.
Swap-O-Rama is free and open to the public.
