March 9, 2012| |
Thomas Mihajlov, a lecturer in the department of accounting and finance, and an executive-in-residence in the College of Business, will lead the campus discussion, which is part of the TED Tuesdays series. The event will begin at 7 p.m. March 13 in Room 101 of Hibbard Humanities Hall.
"The (Misunderstood) State of the Economy," which is open to the public, will be hosted by The Corps of Excellence, a UW-Eau Claire student organization, and the university's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
Attendees will view TED talks featuring economist Alex Tabarrok. A discussion led by Mihajlov will follow.
During the March 13 event, Mihajlov will share his insights on the current financial crises and why people should be optimistic for the future.
A former loan officer and retired banking executive at S&C Bank in Eau Claire, Mihajlov has been a UW-Eau Claire faculty member since 2007. Prior to joining the faculty, he completed the AACSB Bridge Program, a five-day intensive seminar that helps prepare executives to teach in college and university business programs. Mihajlov received his bachelor's degree from UW-Oshkosh and his master's from UW-Eau Claire.
TED Tuesdays, hosted twice a month by The Corps of Excellence, include the viewing of intellectually stimulating TED Talks on video followed by a lecture and discussion with a UW-Eau Claire faculty member.
