Forensics takes team trophies at last MAFLs of the season

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team placed high in Mid-America Forensics League tournaments Feb. 25 at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill., and Feb. 26 at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.

The team placed fifth in team sweepstakes at one competition and fourth at the second competition, qualifying several students for the American Forensic Association tournament.

Individual results for Feb. 25 are as follows:

·Senior Patrick Martin, Burnsville, Minn., placed first in persuasive speaking, which qualified him for the American Forensic Association tournament.

·Senior Holly Albers, Mazeppa, Minn., placed first in duo with freshman Jake Stendahl, Forest Lake, Minn., which qualified them for the American Forensic Association tournament.

·Junior Jessica Krentz, Weston, placed fourth in after-dinner speaking.

·Junior Megan Chilman, Le Sueur, Minn., placed fifth in informative speaking.

Individual results for Feb. 26 are as follows:

·Senior James Kust, Eau Claire, placed second is communication analysis and fifth in after-dinner speaking. Kust also placed second is persuasive speaking, which qualified him for the American Forensic Association tournament.

·Junior Abby Rand, Melrose, placed third in communication analysis.

·Junior Jessica Krentz, Weston, placed third in after-dinner speaking.

·Freshman Kyra Witcher, Apple Valley, Minn., placed sixth in dramatic interpretation.

·Senior Holly Albers, Mazeppa, Minn., placed fourth in dramatic interpretation.

·Senior Natalie Hunter, Vadnais Heights, Minn., placed first in poetry and second in prose, which qualified her for the America Forensic Association tournament.
