Latino theater group to perform 'Help Wanted' Feb. 21 at UW-Eau ClaireFebruary 1, 2012
EAU CLAIRE — Teatro del Pueblo — a Latino theater group — will perform "Help Wanted" at 7 p.m. Feb. 21 in Davies Theatre at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
The play, written and directed by Virginia McFerran, focuses on a family of impoverished immigrants who come to Minnesota in search of a better life and with plans to help their family in Mexico. The satirical piece demonstrates the plight of immigrants who risk harsh treatment and inequalities when trying to find work, and addresses the issues of immigration.
Based in St. Paul's west side Latino community, Teatro del Pueblo's mission as a small, nonprofit theater company is to develop and support Latino talent, to educate the community at large about Latino culture and to promote cultural diversity in the arts. Visit the Teatro del Pueblo website for more information on the group and its plays.
The Feb. 21 performance is sponsored by UW-Eau Claire's Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Student Organization of Latinos.
The play is free and open to the public.
