Free foreign language classes available to area elementary school students

February 1, 2012
EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students enrolled in "Teaching Foreign Languages in Grades 1-8" will offer a series of exploratory foreign language classes for elementary school students in grades one through five.

Classes are beginning French, beginning German and beginning Spanish. Classes will meet from 4:10-4:50 p.m. Thursdays, March 29-May 10, in Hibbard Humanities Hall, located at the corner of Park and Garfield avenues on UW-Eau Claire's lower campus.

There is no fee, but parents are encouraged to contribute one after-school treat.

The classes will help UW-Eau Claire education majors prepare to teach foreign languages at the elementary level.

Those interested should register online by March 1.

Enrollment is limited to 15 students per class.

For more information, contact Dr. Anne Hlas, associate professor of Spanish, at 715-836-3528 or hlasac@uwec.edu.
