Registration opens for LGBT issues program in April

EAU CLAIRE — UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension is now accepting registrations for its "Working with LGBT Individuals and Their Families" program. The program — designed for educators, social workers, therapists and counselors — focuses on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues. It will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. April 26 at the Best Western Trail Lodge Hotel & Suites in Eau Claire.

Keynote speaker Laura Goetz is the founder of the Stevens Point chapter of PFLAG (Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbian and Gays) and current state coordinator. She also is a board member for Fair Wisconsin, one of the state's most respected advocacy groups. Goetz is a social worker as well as a trained mediator and LGBT advocate.

The cost to attend is $99 per person and includes workshop materials and refreshments. Lunch is not included.
