Minneapolis-based band Farewell Milwaukee to present free show Feb. 3January 23, 2012
Formed in 2008, Farewell Milwaukee has charted a course down familiar paths blazed by folks like Jackson Browne, Ryan Adams and the Jayhawks — focusing on the power of honest, confessional songwriting with no pretense. All five members of Farewell Milwaukee hail from the Midwest: Ben Lubeck (vocals, guitar), principal songwriter and lead singer; Aaron Markson, lead guitar and background vocals; Adam Lamoureux, keyboards and background vocals; Brad Fox, drums and percussion; and Kyle Magstadt, bass and background vocals.
In May Farewell Milwaukee released its successful sophomore album, "When It Sinks In," recorded in Nashville with the engineer from Norah Jones' and Kings of Leon's most recent efforts. City Pages called the album "a stirring collection of new songs that not only expanded their fan base but also landed them on the recent Cities 97 Sampler." The only Twin Cities band featured on the charity compilation CD, Farewell Milwaukee headlined a sold-out show at the Cedar Cultural Center in January.
The show is free and open to all ages; proof of age is required for alcohol purchase. The concert is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the Student Senate.
