Guest recital to feature saxophonist and pianist Jan. 29January 20, 2012
The concert will feature several pieces, including "Sonatine," "Suite Rhapsodica," "Fantasie," "Five Melodies," Op. 35, "Kotekan" and "Oblivion."
Page earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota and a master's degree from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music.
Page has won top prizes at several international and national competitions, including first-place at the 2010 North American Saxophone Alliance Solo Competition and the 2010 Music Teachers National Association Chamber Music Competition.
Page also is a member of the Zzyzx Quartet, which was formed in 2007. The quartet has gained high regard after numerous guest recitals and master classes across the United States as well as performances throughout the world.
Page currently is pursuing his doctor of musical arts degree at the University of Iowa as a recipient of the Iowa Performance Fellowship, the most prestigious award within the School of Music.
Sifford began his musical experience at Missouri State University and continued onto graduate school at Louisiana State University. He currently lives in Iowa City, Iowa, and spends time performing, accompanying students at the University of Iowa and playing with many artists in the local community. Sifford also has composed several piano books.
The concert is free and open to the public.
