Single Parent Scholarships 

Awards vary from $500 to $2000 and are available to admitted and currently enrolled UW-Eau Claire students who are custodial single parents with dependent children.  You must be in good academic standing, have the potential for academic success, and demonstrate financial need. You must have a FAFSA on file to be considered.  You need only submit one application to be considered for the Bruce, Cable, Heroes, Illgen, McEnany, Single Parent, Smith, or Sultan.  Some have more specific requirements---please review the individual listings below for more detailed information.

Application for the 2014-15 academic year is currently closed.  Watch for Newsletter notifications regarding any scholarships that may come available during the current year.  Application for the 2015-16 academic year will be available November, 2014.

Note:  Students enrolled under "Special Student" status are not eligible for most forms of Financial Aid/Scholarships.  They may apply for the Returning Adult Student Fund, however.

Blugold Promise-De Maio
Eligibility: A nontraditional student with 30 or less credits, with a preference for a single parent. Students must have graduated from a Wisconsin high school. Students should demonstrate significant financial need and have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid office.  To be considered, students must have a well-rounded record of academic achievement, leadership and involvement in extracurricular activities.  Recipients who have a successful freshman year and maintain a GPA of 3.0 by the end of their first year will receive a $1,000 scholarship their sophomore year.

Application Process:  Blugold Promise scholarships are awarded based on the quality of the UW Admission application along with the above criteria.  Decision is made by September 1 of each academic year.

Blugold Promise-Graupner
Eligibility: A nontraditional student with 30 or less credits, with a preference for a single parent.  Students must have graduated from a Wisconsin high school.  Students should demonstrate significant financial need and have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid office. To be considered, students must have a well-rounded record of academic achievement, leadership and involvement in extracurricular activities.  Recipients who have a successful freshman year and continue to make satisfactory progress by the end of that year will receive a $1,000 scholarship their sophomore year.

Bruce, Susan Single Parent Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be a single parent, currently enrolled at UW-Eau Claire. Applicant should need financial assistance and have potential for success in academics and career.  Student must have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office.

Dick and Marlene Cable Single Parent Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be a returning female single parent, currently enrolled at UW-Eau Claire. Applicant should need financial assistance and have potential for success in academics and career.  Student must have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office.

Hero's Fund for Single Parents 
Eligibility: Applicant must be approved for admission and an enrolled UW-Eau Claire student, in good academic standing with the potential for academic and career success, a single custodial parent with dependent children, and have demonstrated financial need not met by traditional forms of financial assistance.  Preference is given to female returning students.  All scholarship applicants must have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office. Notifications of the award determinations will be sent to award recipients only by the approximate award dates noted in the scholarships.

Elizabeth Illgen Scholarship for Single Parents 
Eligibility: Applicants must be currently-enrolled UW-Eau Claire students, in good academic standing with the potential for academic and career success. Must be a single custodial parent with dependent children, with preference given to male parents. The applicant must demonstrate financial need not met by traditional forms of financial assistance and have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office. Award notification will be sent to award recipients only by the approximate award dates noted in the scholarships.

Mc Enany Single Parent Scholarship

Smith, Ken and Mary Single Parent Scholarship
Eligibility: Available to single parent students, freshman through senior, with financial need.  A minimum 2.0 GPA is required for freshmen entering out of high school.  In the case of renewal for a previous recipient, an acceptable academic performance during the previous scholarship year(s) as determined by the scholarship selection committee is required.  The scholarship can be renewed four times by the same student, for a maximum of five total years.

Cathy G. Sultan Scholarship
Eligibility:
Applicant must be a returning female student needing significant financial assistance. Applicant must have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office.  Preference will be given to a single parent with custodial responsibility and dependent children.  Applicant must have demonstrated potential for success in academics and career and be currently enrolled at UWEC.  Notification of the award determination will be sent to award recipient only by the approximate award date noted in the scholarship.
