Your segregated fees pay for a rental textbook in almost all courses. Some courses do require purchased books.
To pick up your books you from the Instructional Resource Rental (IRR) Center, located in the bookstore. You must have your Blugold Card and your class schedule.
- Rental text books may be picked up each semester starting two weeks before classes begin.
- You can fill out a form after you register for the next term so that the Bookstore will "bundle" your books and have them waiting for you. Otherwise, you find them on the shelf yourself.
- You must return your rental texts on or before the last day of final exams to avoid fines.
- If you wish, you may purchase your rental texts.
- Keep all receipts in the event of a return.
Getting Your I.D.
Once you've registered for classes, get your Blugold I.D. card from the Blugold Card Office in Davies Center 110.
You will need your ID card for renting your textbooks, checking out library materials, riding the Eau Claire city buses for free, purchasing discounted tickets for university events, etc.
Deposit money in your Blugold account and your Blugold Card can also be a "debit card," for everything from food in a cafeteria, to pop out of a machine, to mailing a package at the Service Center.
Spouses can get a Blugold ID card for $10.00 and use it much as a student does.
NOTE: If you were previously a student at UWEC prior to fall 2005, you need to replace your card.
Campus Parking . . . or Park and Ride
Parking permits are required in all University lots between 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. or as posted. Parking permits can be purchased from the Parking Office located in Schneider Hall 106, 836-2002, website: www.uwec.edu/parking. After 3:00 p.m. each day, permit parking lots are open to all vehicles without a permit, but do not park in “GF” (Guaranteed Faculty) slots without a “GF” sticker – you will be ticketed.
No permits are required in metered zones, but meters are enforced year round during posted hours and cost 50¢ per hour. Follow parking instructions closely as tickets will be issued and fines are expensive!

All UWEC students only need to present their Blugold I.D. Card to ride any city bus anytime, anywhere for free. Check out the University Bus System schedule.
