Why Eau Claire
Located within some of the most beautiful north woods scenery in the United States, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire sits on the banks of the Chippewa River and is touted as "Wisconsin's Most Beautiful Campus."
Being in close proximity to the Twin Cities enables UW-Eau Claire students to hear world class performers and participate in many professional engagements. This location also enables us to host many nationally known jazz artists in conjunction with their travels to the Twin Cities, one of the largest cities for the arts in the United States.
LARGE JAZZ PROGRAM
Classically based in curriculum to develop a well round player able to compete in todays musical market, UW-Eau Claire has over 100 participating in five big bands, numerous combos and an active faculty member on each jazz instrument.
ALL UNDERGRADUATE SCHOOL:
All undergraduate means that all students you learn with and compete for bands and chairs will be in the 18-22 years old range. You won’t be competing for opportunities with doctoral students twice your age and with twice your experience.
HOME TO THE EAU CLAIRE JAZZ FESTIVAL
One of the oldest and largest jazz festivals in the nation bringing
many world class artists, fully integrated into the university and city of Eau Claire, operated by students for the sake of gaining entrepreneur skills.
Along with building talented well rounded students, it is our highest priority to enable students to learn entrepreneurial qualities. Along with the endless projects students are mentored through, the Jazz Studies has a fully functional non-profit corporation called Eau Claire Jazz Inc. run collectively by students, business oriented faculty and community members involved in business vocations.
