Dr. Jacqueline M. Wilson

Jacqueline Wilson is Lecturer in Bassoon at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire where she teaches applied bassoon, and woodwind techniques. As an active performer Dr. Wilson is involved with area groups including the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra and the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra, she has also performed with the Cedar Rapids Symphony, the Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre, the Nolte Ballet Orchestra, and the Northwest Bach Festival.  

She has been a featured artist on Washington Public Radio, in multiple concerto engagements, and in numerous recitals and festivals.  An enthusiastic pedagogue, she has taught and at Kirkwood Community College, the Orchestra Iowa Symphony School, the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Bassoon Workshop, and Pinelow Music Camp.

As an avid supporter of new music, Dr. Wilson has premiered and commissioned works by composers Jonathan Middleton, Brian Van Winkle, Anthony Donofrio, and Matthew Dotson. Her dissertation, a performance guide and analysis of the Concerto for Bassoon and Low Strings by Sofia Gubaidulina, advocates for the integration of modern repertoire into the standard pedagogical curriculum.

Dr. Wilson holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Bassoon Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Iowa. She is also a graduate of Boston University's College of Fine Arts and Eastern Washington University.  Her principal teachers include Benjamin Coelho, Matthew Ruggiero, and Lynne Feller-Marshall.
