Julie C. Fox, dance artist and educator, comes to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a diverse and rich history in dance. Her early physical studies included scholarships to both the Houston Ballet Academy and the Lou Conte Dance Studios of Chicago and she continues to attend professional dance workshops and conferences across the globe. She has performed with Ballet Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, Hopestone, Sandra Organ Dance Company, Karen Stokes Dance, Stephen Koplowitz, Leslie Scates, and with various independent artists in Houston, Chicago, and Columbus, Ohio in a wide range of performance genres—classical ballet, contemporary dance, masked theatre, improvisation, interactive sound environments and site-specific works.

Julie held an adjunct faculty position in the Dance Division of the School of Theatre and Dance at the University of Houston (2002-6) and was the rehearsal director for the Ensemble (2004-6), a pre-professional performing group in the dance program. During her graduate studies at The Ohio State University, she taught Writing about Dance in addition to movement courses and held graduate associate positions at the Wexner Center for the Arts and at the Center for the Study and Teaching of Writing in the Writing Across the Curriculum program. She was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Denison University (2010) and Ohio University (2011) and was the modern dance instructor in BalletMet's Summer Intensive Program (2010, 2011).

She has created dance works for the U of H Dance Ensemble, the Houston-based youth arts program Kids Play, the Sandra Organ Dance Company, Denison University, Ohio University, as well as for independent venues in both Houston and Columbus. In 2010, she was the recipient of the Gravity's Ripple II Choreographic Residency award presented by the Dublin Arts Council and OhioDance for the creation of Gravity's Ripple II: Falling Up, Cascading Forward, a site-specific contemporary dance event on the DAC's rolling hillside property on the banks of the Scioto River. Most recently, Julie's choreographic work to the line was commissioned by the Houston Metropolitan Dance Company for their 2011-12 performance season and will be performed at Miller Outdoor Theatre and the Wortham Center in Houston. She is excited to share the creative space with the students and faculty of UWEC and the Eau Claire community, and as always, looks forward to the dance.
