The UW-Eau Claire Voice and Choral Area of the Music and Theatre Arts Department is proud to host the 2011 NATS Intern program.  Twelve early career voice teachers from around the United States will gather on the UW-Eau Claire campus from June 7-17 and will be mentored by four master voice teachers with the goal of improving their own voice teaching skills. Twenty-four student singers from UW-Eau Claire and Eau Claire high schools will participate in the program, taking voice lessons from the interns and performing on a final recital open to the public on Thursday, June 16 at 2:00 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall in the Haas Fine Arts Center.

2011 NATS Intern Program

The NATS Intern Program is an exciting and innovative venture that seeks to pair experienced and recognized master teachers of voice with talented young members of NATS. Within a format designed to promote the dynamic exchange of ideas and techniques, the goal is to improve substantially the studio teaching skills of these promising young teachers. Each intern will teach four lessons to two students (one male and one female) and perform in a master class under the supervision of a master teacher. In addition, the master teachers, Cynthia Vaughn (vocal literature liaison), and special guests will present lectures and demonstrations.

Interns chosen will be responsible for their own expenses, although financial assistance will be available through the NATS Foundation for housing and meals. Interns may also request financial assistance from their NATS chapters or regions as well as from their institutions of employment for travel. The interns' tuition expenses for this program are completely covered by NATS, Inc., and the NATS Foundation.

All NATS members with five years or less of experience teaching singing are urged to apply for NATS intern programs.
