Dr. Benjamin Pierce is a member of the music faculty at the University of Arkansas, where he teaches applied tuba and euphonium and directs the tuba/euphonium ensemble. He holds degrees from Bowling Green State University and the University of Michigan.

Pierce has performed with major ensembles including the Detroit Symphony, the Detroit Chamber Brass, the Brass Band of Battle Creek, the Toledo Symphony, and the Flint Symphony. He has served as principal tubist of the Ann Arbor Symphony and the Ann Arbor Brass Quintet and is currently principal tubist of the North Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. He is a founding member of Boston Mountain Brassworks, the University of Arkansas faculty brass quintet.

Dr. Pierce has been a frequent recitalist and clinician at workshops and conferences in the United States and abroad. He has performed as a soloist with numerous ensembles including the Tokyo Symphony, the Oulu Symphony of Finland, the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” the Friuli Veneziano Giulia Symphony Orchestra of northern Italy, the Imperial Brass Band, the Fountain City Brass Band, the Toledo Symphony, and many others.

Pierce has won first prize in many international tuba and euphonium competitions. His two recent solo recordings, Wheels of Life and Cheers, are available directly from www.benpierce.com.
