Dear Choral Director, The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, “Wisconsin’s Singing University,” is pleased to present the Seventeenth Annual Clearwater Honor Choir Festival at UW-Eau Claire under the direction of Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff, Director of Choral Activities, and Dr. Alan Rieck, conductor, on October 10-11, 2008. The two-day festival will feature three concerts:
The festival will feature four choral ensembles from UW-Eau Claire including the Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, The Singing Statesmen, and Women’s Concert Chorale. The Clearwater Festival Honor Choir will be comprised of the top vocal musicians from high schools in the upper Midwest. You are invited to submit a mixed quartet(s) of your most talented vocal musicians. I am pleased to welcome to campus the Chippewa Falls High School Concert Choir, Ronald Buckles, conductor, as the guest choir. The festival music will be mailed and billed AUTOMATICALLY to your school from Schmitt Music Center in Eau Claire (715/832-5564 or Elliott.Wessel@schmittmusic.com) for each selected festival participant. You will be sent one set of music for each student, plus one for the director. If your school requires a purchase order number, please call the store. The selections are as follows:
The registration fee for each student will be $15.00 (does not cover the music). All meals will be on your own while attending the festival. The registration fee is payable on or before festival day and should be made payable to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at the address below. Please return the registration form by SEPTEMBER 10. You will be notified during the week of September 15 with information on which students have been selected. Acceptance in the festival assumes that your students will be prepared on the choral scores to insure a successful festival. It is my intention to accept at least one quartet of qualified vocalists from your school to insure a balanced Festival Choir! I look forward to hearing from you by SEPTEMBER 10.
