This scholarship is open to sophomore, junior or senior level students majoring in mathematics or the physical sciences. There is a preference for recipients from Wisconsin and/or Minnesota to receive the award. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher, with preference given to the candidate with the greatest GPA. Recipient must have financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office at UW-Eau Claire. Scholarship may be renewable, but student will need to reapply.
The Chair of each department should make sure the scholarship opportunity is announced to their majors by mid-February. Application forms should be made available (in the Department Office, sent via e-mail, on the web, etc.). Students must complete and return the application form to the Departmental Office of the student’s major by March 15th.

The Chair of each department will select up to two finalists (based on the eligibility criteria above) from all of the applications received in their department. The A&S Dean’s Office will be notified of the finalists from each department by April 1st (a copy of the finalists’ application forms should be forwarded to the Dean’s Office). A packet of departmental finalists’ applications (up to two from each department) should be sent to each of the Chairs for final ranking. The College of Arts & Sciences Scholarship Committee (which will be composed of the chairs of the biology, chemistry, geography, geology and mathematics departments and chaired by the Dean of Arts & Sciences or the Dean’s designee) will meet in early April to select the overall finalist for the award.
Early April. The announcement of the recipient should coincide with UWEC’S Honor’s Week. The recipient should be recognized at the Honors Week event of the department of their major.
The recipient of the scholarship will receive official notification and be honored at the University Awards Banquet.
The Dean will notify the recipient by letter and complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office.
