JSTOR: Journal Storage Database
The JSTOR database is a collection of online full text scholarly journals in many fields.
"JSTOR is a not-for-profit organization established with the assistance of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. It is dedicated to helping the scholarly community take advantage of advances in information technologies. One goal is to build a reliable and comprehensive archive of important scholarly journal literature."

Getting Started
JSTOR is available to UW-Eau Claire users using several strategies:
- By clicking the library web home page Master Index, selecting J, then clicking JSTOR
- By selecting from the Alphabetical Listing of electronic databases under Online Resources
- By searching the online catalog choose and clicking TITLE SEARCH, typing JSTOR, pressing [Enter], selecting the record with [computer file] following the title, and, in the record, clicking the blue text in the Linked Resourcesline.
However you link to the database, the opening screen does not require a login. Click SEARCH JSTOR or you may click to BROWSE THE LIST OF JOURNALS.
Searching
Many titles span 50 years; most include at least 10 years of back issues, the last at least 5 years older than the current year. The JSTOR database has a "moving wall" (date of latest issue included).
You may:
- Search across all journals, browse categories of journals or search one or two titles by subject, keywords, author, etc.
- View an article, an abstract or the table of contents for an issue
- Print or download (copy) articles, but there are copyright restrictions. Read the accompanying information!
Search Options
After reading the information aboutseveral journals to learn the contents, scope and coverage, you may chose to search only one journal title, select several, choose a subject category or search across all journals.

An ADVANCED SEARCH template is available which allows more flexibility for combining MULTIPLE terms in a single search statement.
Viewing, Saving, & Printing
As you view abstracts you may choose from the gray navigation bar on the left of the page to PRINT, view the ARTICLE, view THE TABLE OF CONTENTS, SEARCHagain, or get HELP.PRINTINGis possible, but restricted.Click PRINT and follow the option best for you.
