Teaching and Learning
Finding and using government publications can be bewildering. The McIntyre Library provides several services to help the campus community take advantage of the rich information resources available from Federal, state, and local governments.
Develop Assignments using Government Documents
Research Consultations
Schedule an individualized research consultation with Government Publications Librarian Robin Miller, or with another librarian.
LibGuides: Government and Legal Information
The McIntyre Library maintains a growing collection of research guides to help you find and use government documents. Looking for a guide on a particular type of government information? If you don't see it on our list, contact us to request it.
Schedule Instruction
Invite a librarian to teach a class session about finding and using government documents in research. Library instruction will help your students build strategies for finding, using, and synthesizing government information in their research process. A few examples of course-integrated instruction include:
-
source evaluation
-
tracing a legislative history
-
policy and regulatory research strategies
-
finding Census data
-
locating empirical research or other methodological research
Sessions can be taught in your classroom, in L1033 (the library's instructional lab), in the government publications area, or a combination of these.
Contact us for assistance developing assignments and course units focused on government documents, including guides, handouts, and worksheets. For more information, contact Robin Miller.
