The Ross Hastings Project

This online project was coordinated by former archivist Larry Lynch and Reserves Librarian Janet Patterson in 1998-1999 with the assistance of the campus web personnel and the Media Development Center.

Frontier Life in the Chippewa Valley

This online project contains the historical editions of selected documents from the Charles F. Xavier Goldsmith collection, as produced by graduate students enrolled in ENGL 713. The documents date back to the early 1800s and pertain primarily to the Cadotte, Warren, and Ermatinger families who lived in the Chippewa Valley area.

Historic Council Oak Tree

Learn the history of this historic tree on the UW-Eau Claire campus. Early on it was a meeting place for Native Americans in the area, and more recently it became a meeting place for students and the symbol of the campus. Although the tree no longer stands, today's students can sit on a bench made by the Art Department from the wood of the Council Oak tree. The bench is in McIntyre Library and overlooks the place where the tree once stood.
