How-To Information

Feature Description
Calendar Allows you to create appointments and events, assemble meetings, view group schedules, view calendars simultaneously, link to calendars on Microsoft SharePoint, send calendars through email, publish calendars online, and subscribe to online calendars.
Categories Allow you to organize tasks and messages. Tasks can be placed in multiple categories, and each category is assigned a color.
Conversations Organizes messages with the same subject into a conversation, removing past messages that clutter your inbox so that only the most recent message which contains all past messages remains in your inbox. The Ignore button on the ribbon moves the conversation and future replies into the Deleted Items Folder. The Clean Up button transfers older messages of a conversation to the Deleted Items Folder but keeps the most recent message from the Conversation.
MailTips MailTips appear in the InfoBar in order to alert the email sender of any unanticipated delivery or audience information, such as if the recipient is in the office, or if the message might not be delivered.
Personal Archive Feature Allows you to store email archive folders online to be accessed using Outlook Web App. You can also view their archive mailbox and transfer messages from your primary mailbox to your personal archive.
Quick Steps Allows you to perform multiple actions with one click. Microsoft Outlook suggests having QuickSteps for Reference, Personal, Done, Defer, and there are other optional QuickSteps. (e.g., messages that are Deferred will be marked as read, flagged as a task for Today, and moved to your 1-Reference folder.
Rules Allows you to organize messages based on criteria you set, filtering incoming messages so must-read items only appear in your inbox. Suggested Rules are Automatic Replies, To: Me, Meeting Requests Sent to Inbox, Defer Sent Items, and contact Groups.
Social Connector Allows you to view data regarding friends' activities and status from social networks. The People Pane at the bottom of email messages allows you to view information and activity feeds about the sender from the social networking sites, and also communication history.
Synchronized Email Accounts Allows you to synchronize email accounts from multiple services like Hotmail, Gmail, or other providers to Outlook 2013 so that personal and business email accounts can be viewed together in Microsoft Outlook 2013.
Tasks Allows you to create reminders for tasks which can be sorted by Start Date, Due Date, Folder, Type, Importance, or Show in Groups. Upon completion, tasks can be marked as complete, or removed from the list of daily/weekly tasks.
Voice Mail Preview Allows voice mail messages to be converted into text using Microsoft speech technology and sends it to you via email or text message.
