Resident Assistant Application

The Resident Assistant job is a part-time, live-in position with an appointment on an academic semester or an academic year basis. There are approximately 120 RAs that are divided between the 11 residence halls on campus. Staff sizes range for 5 to 18.

How To Apply

3 Easy Steps to Apply


1.  Email the following as a PDF to RAselection@uwec.edu  Please title the PDF as "Your Name, Hall applying to" (ie: Jane Doe, Oak Ridge) 

  • The Resident Assistant Application Form
  • A cover letter addressed to the Hall Director.  Focus your cover letter:
     - Describe why they want to be a R.A. 
     - Highlight key leadership experiences that are relevant to the R.A. position 
     - Explain how equity, diversity, and inclusion are important to you and the R.A. position
  • Your resume

2.  Give a reference form to three people who are willing to speak professionally and positively on your behalf.  They should email these directly to RAselection@uwec.edu.  People who you might want to ask: your current/past RA, Hall Director, organization advisor/president, professor, current/past work supervisor, coach, volunteer coordinator, teacher, etc.

3.  The hall director will contact you to schedule your personal interview and group interview.

* Criminal background checks are required prior to employment.

The RA Informational Fair will give you an opportunity to talk with Hall Directors and Resident Assistants about what it is like to work in a particular hall.
