Election of HPO Secretary

Today marks the first day of voting for HPO's new secretary! There are five canidates, please take a few minutes to read each of their paragraphs and choose who you would like to be our newest officer. Voting will take place through Thursday, September 29th. Follow this link to vote:

HPO meeting/Social announced

This Saturday, October 1st, is the first HPO meeting/social. The general meeting will begin at 7:30pm in Davies next to the Cabin/Green Mountain Coffee.  There will be some discussion on upcoming events, introduction of the officers and maybe even a few ice-breakers! At 8pm we will head over to the Cabin to hear Jenn Grinels, an acoustic guitar player and vocalist, perform. There is no charge for the social so feel free to bring and friend and enjoy some music!

HPO Halloween Social @ Acoustic Cafe, October 31, Join HPO, the Honors Program Organization, in a spooktacular Halloween celebration on Sunday, October 31 at 6:00pm in the Bridgman Hall basement social room.  Come enjoy some treats, play some games, and carve a boo-tiful pumpkin with your fellow Honors Program classmates.  It’s going to be fangtastic!

Hi Honors Students!

This week’s Toppers Pizza Social was a great success—over 30 students—thank you to everyone who came! 

A few plans were discussed including tee shirts.  Anyone with ideas please email Adam (gewissa@uwec.edu).

Other HPO events in the works include a future bowling night at the BBC and coordinating a few cool volunteer opportunities.

Remember suggestions are always welcome, so send me an email if you have ideas you'd like to see be put into action!

We'll be eating free TOPPERS YUM! and talking about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. Hello Honors Students!

I hope everyone's weekends went well!  This is just an update from the Honors Program Organization!  I'll try to keep it a little shorter this time :)

1.  We had our first volunteer event this Saturday at The Saving Race!  It was a blast!  Everyone who volunteered will be able to attend a social event for free now!  Do you want to attend a social event for free?  Well, join the rest of your Honors students in volunteering!  Our next volunteer event on October 23 for the Special Olympics!  We are still taking volunteers!

2.  We are having our second meeting on September 29, which is THIS WEDNESDAY!  We are having a speaker come from the Graduate & Professionals Fair.  This is a GREAT opportunity for those of you who are even THINKING about continuing on education after your undergraduate degree.  We're going to also have free snacks and more information about the rest of the semester's activities!  The meeting will be at 8:00 PM in the Schneider Social Sciences building room number 213.  Join your old friends and make new ones!

Hello Honors Students!

This is your Honors Program Organization President Matthew Vorhees with some exciting news!  The results are in and you voted for our new Vice President and Treasurer!  Mariah Quick is the new Vice President, and Adam Gewiss is the new Treasurer!  Congratulations to both of you!  Thank you for everybody who submitted a biography and for everybody who voted this year!  It is really appreciated!  If you didn't receive a position this year, don't fear!  There are still many ways to get involved with the Honors Program Organization this year!

We have our first volunteer event this Saturday!  We're helping out with The Saving Race!  There is still time to volunteer and get to know the other Honors students while getting to go to a social activity FOR FREE!  If you're interested, you can email me back at vorheema@uwec.edu.  We will be meeting at around 9:45 AM that day and will be finished by around noon.  Thank you to all who have volunteered their help already but spread the word!  We can dress up like superheroes too!!

Just a reminder, we have our second meeting next week Wednesday at 8:00 PM!  We will be having a speaker come and speak to us about the Graduate & Professionals Fair that is coming up on October 14!  If you're planning on continuing education after your undergraduate degree, this would be a fantastic opportunity for you!

Hello Honors Students!

This email is coming to you from Matthew Vorhees, your Honors Program Organizaiton President!  I hope everybody is having a great week of classes!  I just wanted to updated the University Honors Program students on what's happening in the HPO!

1.  Elections!
        Thank you for everybody who applied to be the Vice President or Treasurer for HPO this year!  We really appreciate all the great applicants!  HPO has set up an online survey that lists all of the candidates for the different positions and their short biographies.  Each honors student is allowed to vote for one person for each position.  The elections will be held from today till Monday at midnight.  You will have to follow the link to take the survey: https://uweauclaire.qualtrics.com/SE?SID=SV_0T9X7EVfvZAlqBK


2. The Saving Race - HPO Volunteer Opportunity!
        The Honors Program Organization has their first volunteer activity for the school year fast approaching on Saturday September 25! This is a great way to get to meet and make friends with your fellow honors students, and you can also go to a free social activity if you attend!  We are offering students two choices with this activity: The first choice would be to volunteer to help with the race for the adults from 10:00 AM - Noon and/or the race with the children from 10:30 - 11:15 by passing out beverages and helping participants out in anyway.  The second choice would be to actually be in the race!  HPO can offer a discount for signing up as a team. So, if you want to run with your HPO friends, you would only have to pay $5.00 instead of $20.00!  What a deal!  You'll get a T-shirt and everything!  If you're interest in either option, you can sign up on the sign up sheet that's in the Honors Office study lounge (Schneider 209).  The deadline is Sunday night!  (If you can't get to the Honors Office, then you can email me with your interest)
