Do I have to do Service-Learning?

All UW-Eau Claire students must complete 30 hours of service-learning before graduation.

If you are a history teaching or broadfield social studies major your will complete your service-learning through student teaching and your other education courses.

Occasionally, students in the College of Arts and Sciences complete their service-learning requirement as part of a regular course, such as a public history course that engages in community service. Most history majors in the College of Arts and Sciences fulfill their service-learning requirement by selecting and volunteering for a program/organization of their choice. They do not get academic credit for this volunteer work, but it does satisfy their service-learning requirement. The Center for Service-Learning has information on a multitude of established programs in the Eau Claire area that are in need of volunteers. BEFORE you begin a project, be sure to consult the Center for Service Learning on how to get your project approved.
