Guidelines for Equipment Check-Out
These guidelines have been prepared to help assure access to limited resources by as great a number of faculty, staff and students as possible. The nature of an "equipment pool" is to serve many briefly, rather than a few for long periods of time. If needs are long-term or requests repeated, individuals will be encouraged to seek permanent solutions for their needs.
General Guidelines
-
The equipment pool's primary purpose is support of classroom instruction identifiable with a UW-Eau Claire course number.
-
Other instructional activity, research, faculty/student collaboration, public service activities, and general work of University employees is also supported.
-
Items are available to faculty, staff, and students.
-
Due to high demand and limited numbers of items, use is restricted to short-term needs, usually 1-3 days. Longer uses may be approved on a case-by-case basis.
-
Due to the limited number of some high demand, high expense items, students are required to have a faculty member verify use related to instruction or projects. Some items may be restricted to on-campus use only.
-
Some items may have restricted use because of the regulations associated with the funding source. For example, items purchased with classroom modernization funds are restricted to in-classroom instructional use only.
-
Some uses/clients may be charged for equipment pool items regulated by the LTS standard chargeback policies based on use category. For example, there is a fee for rentals by organizations supported by segregated fees.
-
Commercial or non-university clients are encouraged to obtain items/services from local vendors.
Examples of common requests:
- Faculty work, classroom presentations
- Students for class presentations, projects, and other assignments
- Faculty research, student assistants
- Faculty/staff conferences or over-seas assignments
