In order to access your Shared Drives from an off-campus location, you must connect to a VPN.

Connecting to AnyConnect
- Go to vpn.uwec.edu and log in with your UWEC username and password.
- Click the words 'Start AnyConnect' as shown below.

- AnyConnect will proceed to download a small program onto your machine. Follow your own machine's instructions to allow and install so the program will download.
Troubleshooting
On Windows 7 you may have the following pop-ups during the downloading process:
Note: You may first have a yellow bar appear at the top of your screen; click on the bar and then click Install This Add-on for All Users on This Computer.
On Mac OSX you may have the following pop-ups:
Using AnyConnect - Mac OSX
- Click the magnifying glass at the top right corner of your screen and type "Cisco AnyConnect" in the search box. When it appears in the list, click the name to start running AnyConnect.
- In the window that appears, make sure vpn.uwec.edu appears in the text box.

- Click Connect.
- Log in with your UWEC username and password.
- When you are connected, you can log onto the drives the same way as on-campus. Learn how to do that here.
- Access your information (documents, etc...)
- Disconnect the Cisco AnyConnect by right-clicking on the AnyConnect icon in the dock at the bottom of the screen
and from the menu, select Disconnect.
Using AnyConnect - Windows 7
You may see the AnyConnect icon appear in the taskbar at the bottom right of your screen:
- If AnyConnect is not currently active, go to your Start button
and click on the AnyConnect icon:

- In the window that appears, make sure vpn.uwec.edu appears in the text box.

- Click Connect.
- Log in with your UW-Eau Claire username and password.
- When you are connected, you can log onto the drives the same way as on-campus. Learn how to do that here.
- Access your information (documents, etc...)
- To disconnect from the drive, click on the AnyConnect icon in the taskbar at the bottom of your screen and click Disconnect.
