Backing up iPad to iTunes

Windows

1. Open iTunes (Start » All Programs » Multimedia » Players » iTunes).
   
   
2. On the top menu bar, click Store » Sign In.
   
   
   
3. Enter your Apple ID username (like uwecipadXX@uwec.edu) and your Apple ID password.
   
   
   
4. Click the Sign In button.
   
   
5. On the top menu bar, click Store » Authorize This Computer.
   
   
   
6. Enter your Apple ID username (like uwecipadXX@uwec.edu) and your Apple ID password.
   
   
7. Click the Authorize button.
   
   
8. Plug the iPad's Dock/USB cable into the iPad and the computer.
   
   
9. On the left menu, under Devices, right click on your iPad.
   
   
   
10. Click Transfer Purchases and wait a moment.
    
    
11. On the left menu, under Devices, right click on your iPad.
    
    
    
12. Click Back Up and wait a moment – unless you get a warning message, your iPad has been successfully backed up.
    
    
13. You may now disconnect the iPad from the computer.
    
    

Mac

1. Open iTunes (Go » Applications » iTunes).
   
   
2. On the top menu bar, click Store » Sign In.
   
   
   
3. Enter your Apple ID username (like uwecipadXX@uwec.edu) and your Apple ID password.
   
   
   
4. Click the Sign In button.
   
   
5. On the top menu bar, click Store » Authorize This Computer.
   
   
   
6. Enter your Apple ID username (like uwecipadXX@uwec.edu) and your Apple ID password.
   
   
7. Click the Authorize button.
   
   
8. Plug the iPad's Dock/USB cable into the iPad and the computer.
   
   
9. On the left menu, under Devices, right click on your iPad.
   
   
10. Click Transfer Purchases and wait a moment.
    
    
    
11. On the left menu, under Devices, right click on your iPad.
    
    
    
12. Click Back Up and wait a moment – unless you get a warning message, your iPad has been successfully backed up.
    
    
13. You may now disconnect the iPad from the computer.
