Survey Options: Survey Termination


After a Qualtrics survey has been completed, a default end of survey message will appear. You might find it beneficial to end your survey with a more detailed or personalized message. Qualtrics allows you to customize the end of survey message, and also offers the capability to send a customized thank you email to survey participants.

Creating an End of Survey Message

When someone finishes your Qualtrics survey, this default message appears: "We thank you for your time spent taking this survey. Your response has been recorded." The following steps show you how to create a more detailed or personalized end message.

  1. From the My Surveys tab, in the Tasks column for the desired survey, click Edit.
    The survey opens on the Edit Survey tab.

  2. Click Survey Options.

    The Survey Options dialog box appears.

  3. From the Survey Termination section, select End of survey message from a library...
    The End of Survey Message pull-down menu appears.

  4. From the pull-down menu, select My Library: your username.
    A New Message link appears.

  5. To use an existing message, from the End of Survey Message pull-down menu, select the desired message.
    To create a new message,
    1. Click New Message.
      The Create a New Message dialog box appears.
    2. In the Description section, type a description of the message content.
      HINT: This serves as the name of the message.
    3. In the message body text box, type your personalized end of survey message.
    4. Click Save.
      The end of survey message description appears in the End of Survey Message pull-down menu.

  6. Click Save Changes. save changes
    Your Personalized end of survey message will appear after respondents complete your survey.

Redirecting Respondents to a Web Page after Survey Completion

 

In place of an end of survey message, you can redirect respondents to a web page of your choosing.

  1. From the My Surveys tab, in the Tasks column for the desired survey, click Edit.
    The survey opens on the Edit Survey tab.

  2. Click Survey Options.

    The Survey Options dialog box appears.

  3. From the Survey Termination section, select Redirect to a URL.
    The Redirect to a URL text box appears.

  4. In the Redirect to a URL text box, type the URL of the website you would like the survey taker redirected to.

  5. Click Save Changes.  save changes
    Survey takers will now be directed to the specified website upon completing your survey.

Sending a Thank You Email

 

Qualtrics offers you the option of sending a personalized thank you email to those that completed your survey.

NOTE: This option works only with the Individual Link option in the Survey Mailer Advanced Options.

  1. From the My Surveys tab, in the Tasks column for the desired survey, click Edit.
    The survey opens on the Edit Survey tab.

  2. Click Survey Options.

    The Survey Options dialog box appears.

  3. From the Survey Termination section, select Send additional thank you email from a library...
    NOTES:
    The option is selected when a checkmark appears.
    The Thank You Message pull-down menu appears.

  4. From the pull-down menu, select My Library: your username.
    A New Message link appears.

  5. To use an existing message, from the Thank You Message pull-down menu, select the desired message.
    To create a new message,
    1. Click New Message.
      The Create a New Message dialog box appears.
    2. In the Description section, type a description of the message content.
      HINT: This serves as the name of the message.
    3. In the message body text box, type your personalized end of survey message.
    4. Click Save.
      The end of survey message description appears in the Thank You Message pull-down menu.

  6. Click Save Changes.  save changes
    The thank you message will be sent to respondents upon completing your survey.
