Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows Explorer

Though you may navigate Windows Vista with your mouse, Vista provides many keyboard combinations as an alternative. The following document provides various keyboard combinations exclusive to Windows Explorer.

NOTES:
The [Windows] key is located between the [Ctrl] and [Alt] keys and bears the Windows logo.

HINT: To access Windows Explorer, right click the Start button menu » select Explore

Action Press
Open Windows Explorer [Windows] + [E]
Open the Search screen [Windows] + [F]
Open the Properties dialog box [Alt] + [Enter]
Select the Address bar [Alt] + [D]
Scroll to bottom of the active window [End]
Scroll to top of the active window [Home]
If collapsed, expand current selection
If expanded, select the first subfolder
[Right arrow]
If expanded, collapse current selection
If collapsed, select current selection's parent folder
[Left arrow]
View the previous item [Alt] + [Left arrow]
View the next item [Alt] + [Right arrow]
Maximize/minimize the active window (toggle) [F11]
