This document provides instructions for establishing a dial-up connection to the UW-Eau Claire network and for using that to connect to the modem pool.
Before you can you can connect to the UW-Eau Claire modem pool, you must establish a network connection.
From the Start menu, select Settings » Network and Dial-Up Connections
Double-click MAKE NEW CONNECTION
Click NEXT
Select Dial-Up to the Internet and click NEXT
Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually and click NEXT
Select I connect through a phone line and a modem and click NEXT
In the Area code text box, type 715
In the Telephone number text box, type 8365990 and click NEXT

In the User name text box, type your username
In the Password text box, type your password and click NEXT

In the Connection name text box, type UWEC and click NEXT

In response to the question, Do you want to set up an Internet Mail account now?, select No and click NEXT

To connect to the internet immediately, select that option and click FINISH
The option is selected if a check mark appears in front of it.

When you want to access UW-Eau Claire network resources or the Internet, you need to connect to the modem pool.
From the Start menu, select Settings » Network and Dial-Up Connections
Double-click UWEC
You may be prompted to enter your username and password.
Click DIAL
NOTE: Dial-up quotas are in effect. It is important that you disconnect from your dial-up session when you are finished so you do not exceed your quota and temporarily lose dial-up privileges.
Double-click UWEC
Select Disconnect
