Folders are a storage area for files, generally created to keep similar files together and to improve file management. Working with folders is similar to working with files. The primary difference is that you are working with a storage location for specific files.
Creating a new folder is a valuable technique for organizing and separating files.
On the desktop, right click MY COMPUTER
The Quick menu appears.
From the Quick menu, select Explore
Windows Explorer opens.
Open the drive/folder that you want to create a new folder in by double clicking on it
Click away from any other file or folder so that nothing is selected
NOTE: The new folder will be created in the folder that has its contents displayed on the right side of the screen.
From the File menu, select New
NOTE: If a file or a folder is selected in that area, the File menu will change. There may be two choices for NEW. If there are, select the NEW that has the arrow.
From the New submenu, select Folder
The icon for the folder will appear in the contents listing with the default name New Folder.
Replace the New Folder name by typing an appropriate name for the folder
The process for copying, deleting, moving, and renaming folders is the same as for Working with Files.
