Working with Library Items

Library items are items that you use repeatedly. By storing them in a Library they can be reused without having to create them new each time. For example, in your surveys, you may frequently ask the age range of respondents. You can create this question with the age range choices and insert it into new surveys from your Library as needed. For information on inserting items stored in a Library, refer to Creating a Survey.

In addition to other users’ Libraries that have been made public, you can create your own Library of questions and survey items.

  1. From the My Surveys page, click LIBRARIESLibraries button
    The Libraries page appears.

  2. Click CREATE NEW LIBRARY Create New Library button

  3. In the Library text box, type a name for your Library

  4. From the Active pull-down il st, select the desired option
    NOTE: Only items from active Libraries can be used in surveys.

  5. From the Public pull-down list, select the desired option
    NOTE: This determines whether you share the items in your Library.

  6. Click SAVE
    The Modify Library page appears.

  7. Add questions or survey items as you would in creating a survey
    NOTE: You can copy existing items into the Library.

  8. When finished, click DONE

Once you have your Library, you can modify the items in it or add to it at any time. You can also change the status of your Library between active and inactive and between public and private.

Editing a Library: Questions and Items

  1. From the My Surveys page, click LIBRARIESLibraries button
    The Libraries page appears.

  2. For your Library, click DESIGN
    The Modify Library page appears.

  3. Add or edit questions and survey items as you would in creating a survey

  4. When finished, click DONE

Editing a Library: Library Options

  1. From the My Surveys page, click LIBRARIESLibraries button
    The Libraries page appears.

  2. For your Library, click EDIT
    The Edit Library page appears.

  3. Make the desired changes to your Library options

  4. When finished, click SAVE

Deleting a Library deletes the library and all questions and items in it.

  1. From the My Surveys page, click LIBRARIESLibraries button
    The Libraries page appears.

  2. For your Library, click DELETE
    A confirmation dialog box appears.

  3. Click OK
    The Library is deleted.

When creating a survey, you can add items from a Library. Building a strong Library of commonly used items can make your WebSurvey experience much more efficient. For more information on inserting Library items into your survey, refer to Creating a Survey.
